Goa Govt signs MoUs with 4 start ups for imparting skills to youth

Panaji: Goa government on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with four start ups for imparting skills to at least 1000 youths of the state and help them in job placements.

The MoU was signed between the Goa government and four startups namely Navgurukul Foundation For Social Welfare, Haryana Newton School, Bengaluru, Beunlu Pvt Ltd, Haryana, and ENTRI, Kerala.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also holds the education portfolio, signed the MoU on behalf of the Directorate of Higher Education.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the state government has been looking for non-polluting industry and hence talks have been held with many large software companies urging them to set up their office in the coastal state.

He said efforts are being made to build a talent pool in the state itself so that Goa could be made an attractive destination for large IT companies.

The Chief Minister asked students to look beyond government jobs. He urged teachers to counsel students about career opportunities saying their impact on students’ decisions are more compared to parents.

He said the start ups would provide advance education to close to 1000 students per year which will help them in getting placements in respective industries.
