A smartphone and a car have a lot in common. But while on the one hand, after buying a car, people get it serviced every month, and on the other hand, as soon as a mobile gets problematic, they replace it. But if a smartphone is properly taken care of, it can easily work for 6 years or even more. Replacing a phone quickly can also be a result of the high costs to get it repaired. But it has been revealed in a study that the major reason behind the same is people’s habits.

In 2021, the Delft University of Technology conducted a survey on more than 600 people, out of whom most said that they changed their phone because of a slow software and poor battery. University’s design professor, Ruth Mugge said that it is a misconception among people that a smartphone can work properly for only 3-3.5 years, and in order to stop replacing phones again and again, it is required to get your phone serviced from time to time, just like your car.

The phone’s battery should be changed in 3 years, along with this, do not change your phones, steering clear of temptations like store or exchange bonuses. A phone is manufactured by amalgamating at least 70 different contents, which results in the use of a lot of energy. Mostly, phones are manufactured in such countries where a lot of carbon is used in producing electricity. Therefore, if smartphones are changed before the right time, is harmful to both.
