Woman, her child killed as their mud house catches fire in Poonch district

Jammu: A woman and her minor child were killed and five others sustained injuries when their mud house caught fire due to cylinder explosion in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Police said that fire incident took place at the house of one Shoket Hussain of Chandimarh in Poonch in which one Hamida Begum (40) along with her kid Aqib (4) died.

Meanwhile cattle,other domestic animals, household items also perished in the fire, police said adding, “police team along with locals rushed to the spot and put out the fire.”

Two bodies were recovered from the debris while the injured house owner and four children were evacuated and shifted to the hospital.
