Mumbai: Enforcement Directorate (ED) have summoned former Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab’s close relative Sadanand Kadam for questioning in the money laundering case next week.
Anil Parab was the Minister in former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s cabinet earlier.
The former Minister was interrogated by the ED in Mumbai for three days from June 15 and he was questioned for about six to 10 hours in the case.
The case related to money laundering related to alleged violation of Coastal Regulation Zone provisions in the construction of a resort in the Dapoli area of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra.
In the summons sent to Parab by the ED, it said it wanted to interrogate him under the Anti-Money Laundering Act and record his statement.
Former MP Kirit Somaiya, who was informed that the registered land was sold to Sadanand Kadam, had made several complaints to the authorities regarding the illegal resort built in Dapoli area by Parab.
At the same time, the Income Tax Department had also conducted raids in this regard in last March and seized some documents. In the documents, it was mentioned that Parab had purchased a land in Dapoli in 2017 for Rs 1 Crore. Thereafter it was revealed that the land was registered in 2019 and was sold to Sadanand Kadam for Rs 1.10 crore in 2020.
The IT Department estimated that the construction cost of the resort would be around Rs 6 crore.
The ED has also earlier questioned Shiv Sena leaders Sadanand Kadam and Sanjay Kadam.
