Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday asked the children to march ahead with a competitive attitude and to establish themselves.

Addressing a gathering on the concluding day of Sargiful Mahotsav, a programme of the SCST Department, Patnaik said the children of Odisha are no less than others. He asked the children to try their best for achieving success and said his blessings is with them.

Sargiful is an initiative of the SCST department for providing students studying the SCST schools a platform to bring out their hidden talent through various extracurricular activities.

It is being organised in the state for the last 12 years. This year 1200 students and 170 teachers participated in the Sargiful Mahotsav which started on Tuesday after a gap of two years due to Covid.

Citing the example of sportsperson Dilip Tirkey, the Chief Minister said he is a son of Odisha. He became the Captain of the Indian Hockey team and today became the president of Hockey India due to his hard labour and skill. Patnaik said he is a role model for the youths.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated the students and teachers for their success in the High School Certificate examination.

Patnaik said at present five lakh SCST students are now studying in various government hostels and announced to construct 100 more hostels for them by December 2023.
