On Wednesday, Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, showed his strength on the pretext of the first rally of his political party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi. In the rally which was organized in Khammam, KCR announced his party’s arrival in the national political sphere, after the party’s name was changed from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

KCR killed two birds with one stone, as his eyes are not only set on the Telangana state elections which are to be held this year, but also on the aim of leading the national opposition’s attempts at coming together. The rally was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, and Communist Party of India’s D Raja. It was also announced in the rally that the foundation of a third front was being laid, of which Congress is not a part. Hindi slogans kept on echoing during the rally.

Addressing the rally, KCR said that the country will have to save itself from religious fanaticism, and all the secular forces in the country will have to come together in order to send the BJP out of power. It was promised that if BRS comes to power, the nation’s farmers will be provided with free electricity, and the facility of clean potable water will be provided in each home. Apart from this, the Rythu Bandhu scheme will also be implemented in the country. It was added that if the central government is changed, the Agneepath recruitment scheme will also be scrapped off.

Along with this, every year, 25 lakh families will be provided with the Dalit Bandhu facility, under which Dalit youths will receive 10 lakh rupees for self-employment.
