The construction work of the country’s first Jain knowledge repository, which will be stronger than concrete and will easily be able to withstand time for more than 1000 years, is in its last stage in Maharashtra’s Vani. Jain texts written on palm leaves will be preserved here for the coming generations. This structure, being constructed in across an area of 25000 sq. feet, is an amalgamation of Indian temples and Egypt’s pyramids.

Structures like Saddam Hussain’s bunker, and those of Britain, Italy, Rome, Turkey, and USA which are more than a thousand years old were studied for the construction of this repository. This structure is made out of rocks which, on an area of 1 sq. mm, can carry 900 KGs of weight. The American bombs could not affect Saddam’s bunker, and this structure is similar in nature. For the longevity of the structure, limestone, brick straw, and crushed sand of the basalt rock are used in the construction. Plates which apprise about the pressure levied in real time are used in the pillars.

The work of constructing this Jain knowledge repository is taking place under the supervision of 25 year-old Jain organization, Sanmarg Parivar. Its member Dhanesh Sandhvi has said that they had taken the suggestions of the top consultants around the world and the country, including from those of IIT-Bombay. After a 4-year research and 6 years of construction, next month, the dome’s cornerstone will be placed. The palm leaves will be kept inside a 1000 sq. feet box made out of stones. The walls and the floor are being prepared out of basalt rock.
