Every time I win Filmfare, I feel more motivated to disrupt : Bhumi Pednekar

New Delhi: Young Bollywood star Bhumi Pednekar has bagged her third Filmfare Black Lady trophy, for her brilliant and sensitive performance as a lesbian girl navigating through life and society in ‘Badhaai Do’.

She took home the Best Actress (Critics Choice) for her acting in the film. Bhumi had previously won the coveted Filmfare for ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ and ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.

Bhumi says, “This win is extra special! This is my third Filmfare award and every time I win it, I feel more motivated to disrupt, to champion great films. I thank the respected jury, the team at Filmfare and the audience for giving me and team ‘Badhaai Do’ so much love and appreciation.”

Bhumi is thrilled to entertain audiences constantly through her performances. She says, “As an artiste, I look to entertain people with my films. Cinema spreads love and joy to everyone. Sometimes it is a mirror to the society just like Badhaai Do which celebrate the need to equality in love. Love is love.

Love is inclusive and universal. It makes everything better, more worthwhile.”

Bhumi dedicates her Filmfare award to the LGBTQIA+ community in India because the film champions the right to life, personal Liberty and inclusivity for all genders.

“When we made Badhai Do, we wanted to highlight the need for a more inclusive society so that as a nation we are stronger.. ‘Badhaai Do’ is my salute to the entire LGBTQIA+ community. It is a celebration of dignity in love and I would like to dedicate this award to them. Let’s celebrate love always. It will only make us better,” she added.

On the work front, Bhumi has ‘Afwaah’, ‘Bhakshak’, and ‘The Lady Killer’ in the pipeline.
