New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday blamed the BJP-led government in Manipur over violence in the North Eastern state.
Attacking the ruling dispensation, Kharge said, “Manipur is burning. BJP has created fissures among communities and destroyed the peace of a beautiful state.”
He also accused the BJP of doing divisive politics.
“BJP’s politics of hate, division and its greed for power is responsible for this mess.We appeal to people from all sides to exercise restraint and give peace a chance,” Kharge wrote in a tweet.
Reportedly, protests erupted in Manipur against the High Court directive to look into the demand of Meitei to be included in the ST list.
All Tribal Students Union Manipur and some other organisations opposed the decision of the HC and staged protest rallies.
Several houses were burnt in Bishnupur district by miscreants.
