5 Guarantees to be implemented after next cabinet meeting: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Incumbent Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the five guarantees (5Gs) promised by the Congress in its election manifesto will be implemented after the next cabinet meeting.

“The cabinet has okayed all five guarantees by the Congress. It will be implemented after the next cabinet. Details also will be shared at the same time,” he told reporters.

Siddaramaiah exuded confidence that his government would fulfill the promises made in the manifesto without pushing the state into a debt, though these schemes may collectively cost up to Rs 50,000 crore per year.

The party has announced guarantees such as Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi, Anna Bhagya, Yuva Nidhi, and Sakshi.

The Gruha Jyoti scheme assures 200 units of free electricity per month for every household in the state, while Gruha Lakshmi provides Rs 2,000 every month to the woman head of a house.

Anna Bhagya scheme assures 10 kg of free rice to Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders per month and Yuva Nidhi give Rs 3,000 to graduate unemployed youth and Rs 1,500 to unemployed diploma-holders of this year maximum of up to two years.

The Sakshi scheme will give free bus passes for women in Karnataka to travel across the state.
