On Tuesday, June 13, the political front of Bihar has been rattled once again after the son of the founder of the Hindustani Awam Morcha Party (HAM), Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Bihar cabinet minister, Santosh Suman, resigned from the state cabinet. Making this move, Santosh Manjhi alleged that he took this step because pressure was being exerted on him to merge his party, HAM, with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD (U).

Speaking with the media post resigning, Manjhi said, “I have sent my resignation to the Chief Minister, and have personally met with Vijay Kumar Chaudhary (Bihar minister and senior JDU leader), to explain my viewpoint. I hope my resignation will be accepted”.

Clarifying, the HAM National President said, “We are, however, not pulling out of the Mahagathbandhan”.

“Our party has decided that we will strive hard, and moving on the path of struggle, we can, in the future, also do the politics of ‘ekla chalo’, but currently, we have not parted ways with the Mahagathbandhan, however I have resigned from my office of the cabinet minister. Further discussions will take place when we conduct meetings and have a word regarding the future strategy and who we will unite with”, Manjhi further expressed.
