Cloudburst damages two bridges, five houses in HP’s Kullu

Kullu: A cloudburst occurred in Gadsa valley at Panchanala in Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, administration confirmed that two bridges and five houses were washed away in the flash flood and rising water level, and a number of other houses were also partly damaged.

According to the information received at the district headquarters here on Tuesday, a cloudburst occurred in Panchnala, Gadsa Valley, around 0409 hours.

The impact of the cloud burst caused heavy losses to public communication, infrastructure, and property, isolating the two patwar circles of the area from the natural disaster.

Deputy Commissioner Kullu Ashutosh Garg said that five houses have been completely damaged and 15 houses have been partially damaged due to the cloudburst. Two bridges have been washed away due to the cloudburst.

He said that apart from this, the Bhuntar-Gadsa Maniyar road has also been damaged at many places.

Private and government land have also been damaged due to the cloudburst.

He said that a Naib Tehsildar and a Patwari from Bhuntar have left for the spot.

This is the second incident of a cloudburst in the last 24 days in the area. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kullu said that vehicular traffic was partly restored from Mandi to Manali, and tourists have also started using the highway to go to Leh and Ladakh after vehicular traffic was opened.

He said that NH-3 was diverted from narrow roads as four land areas were affected due to recent rains. Kullu district administration evacuated about 75,000 tourists who had been trapped in heavy rains on July 7 and 10.
