Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed officials concerned to make the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ a success under the ‘Majhi Mati, Majha Desh’ (My Soil, My Country) campaign and said that yatra should be planned so that the spirit of patriotism will be awakened in every household in the state.
Speaking at a meeting held on Monday to plan this Amrit Kalash Yatra, he said that a total of 387 kalashes will be sent to New Delhi from Maharashtra, of which 351 will be from rural areas while the remaining 36 will be from each district in urban areas.
These kalashas will be sent for an event in New Delhi to mark conclusion of the Amrit Mahotsav of Indian Independence, he said.
The campaign to collect soil or rice for this kalasha will be carried out till September three, he said and informed.
The meeting was attended by chief secretary Manoj Saunik, along with the secretaries of various departments, Shinde added.
