Kozhikode (Kerala): Punya Dance Academy of Bangalore will perform ‘Abha,’ a retelling of the epic Ramayana in the Margam form of Bharatanatyam, at Sargalaya Kerala Arts and Crafts Village here on Sunday at 6.30 pm.
Famous dancers Aditya PV, Shruti Gopal and Parswanath S Upadhyay will perform ‘Abha’ which was already performed more than 75 times at various venues.
Punya Dance Company has produced over six path breaking productions in the last six years. Hara, Sadgati, Punya Krishna, Paratha, Abha and Naga Mandala have had a profound impact on the art scene.
These three are artistic directors of Punya Dance Company and Upadhyay School of Dance in Bengaluru.
From the perfect vignettes created by brilliant choreography to Sita’s glittering jewellery, Parswanatha Upadhyay as Rama, Aditya PV as Lakshmana and Shruti Gopal as Sita, the show features scintillating performances.
Sita, the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, she was not a woman who blindly followed instructions, she made her choices that changed the course of the epic itself. A women, a wife, a mother, a daughter…, Sita, a woman who knew everything but decided to let events take their course… as Rama.
The trio trains students through online learning platform Antarshala and presents prestigious venues across the globe.
