Srinagar: 2-day consultation program on content review & development for FLN concludes

Srinagar: With an aim to achieve universal foundational literacy and numeracy in primary school by 2025, a two-day consultation program on content review and development for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage 2022 was held here in Srinagar.

The event held on December 8 was facilitated by the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers, and the consultation was conducted in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha J&K, supported by UNICEF.

Coordinator from Samagra Shiksha, Ajeet Sharma, speaking at the inaugural event, said that Samagra Shiksha is the nodal agency for realising the aims and objectives of the NIPUN Bharat Mission led by the Project Director as the Nodal Officer for Jammu and Kashmir, and as such, it was its prerogative that the objectives were met in the stipulated time.

UNICEF Education Specialist Danish Aziz presented major milestones achieved in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha J&K for FLN and said that they are on track to meet the mission deliverables.

Sunisha Ahuja, an education specialist and expert in early childhood education and FLN, presented the national scenario on FLN, FLS study key findings, and language learning.

The technical team, comprising Amita Kaushik of the Eduweave Foundation, Dr Rashim Pal- a freelancer, and Ambreen Bashir, facilitated the consultation.

The event was attended by 25 nominated experts and resource persons from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) J&K, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir, and various districts.

In a concluding remark, Executive Director of JKASW Ashfaq Ahmad Mattoo shared the way forward and said that JKASW has been and will continue to provide its technical support in this mission.
