Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah swears in as Kuwait’s new emir

Doha: Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has taken the oath of office in the Kuwait’s parliament as new emir after the death of his older brother Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the KTV 1 broadcaster reported on Wednesday.

Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah died at the age of 86 on Saturday.

Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah became the 17th emir of the country. According to national media, Kuwait’s foreign policy under the new emir will be in line with the country’s previous rulers and, above all, will be aimed at strengthening Kuwait’s ties with its Arab neighbors in the Persian Gulf, as well as strengthening mutual cooperation and coordination with other Arab countries regarding regional problems
