Baghdad: Shia Muslim militant groups within the Islamic Resistance in Iraq said on Sunday that they had carried out a massive missile and drone attack on three US military bases in Iraq and Syria in response to Washington’s policy in the region.

“In response to the genocide unleashed by the Zionists [Israelis] in the Gaza Strip, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, using missiles and drones, launched attacks on three American military bases,” the organisation said in a statement.

The statement added that the Kharab Al-Jeer base in northeast Syria, a base at Erbil International Airport and a base at the Koniko field in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor were attacked.

Iraqi groups will continue to attack US bases in the region in response to Washington’s activity in the region, the statement read.
