Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Aswani Vaishnaw for displaying the name of Unakoti, an important tourism destination of the state, on a locomotive engine for the first time.

The rail engine promoted the timeless beauty of Tripura by displaying Unakoti, which was spotted at Mariani Junction in Assam on a foggy Thursday morning. The engine was pulling a passenger train to Guwahati, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officials stated.

“Unakoti name was painted on the engine recently, and it’s pulling several passenger and good trains beyond Northeast, which evoked the interest of the people to search the details of Unakoti, and that way it promotes tourism in Tripura,” an official attributed, adding that there were several such initiatives of the NFR to promote unique features of Northeast to the outside.

However, the Chief Minister said, “Perhaps for the first time, the name of Tripura’s renowned tourist destination, Unakoti, has been prominently displayed on an Indian Railway’s locomotive. It’s a reflection of Prime Minister Modiji’s Act East Policy and his affection for the people of this region.”

Unakoti means one less than a crore, and it is said that these many rock-cut carvings are available in the destination of the northern part of Tripura, where the state government undertook several infrastructure projects to facilitate tourists to enjoy the sculptural emblem and ancient Shaivite place that hosts rock carvings, figures, and images of gods and goddesses.
