New Delhi: Former Chief Justice of India Justice N V Ramana said he is filled with deep sorrow on the demise of the eminent Jurist Fali S Nariman on Wednesday.

In a condolence message, Justice Ramana said the news of the sudden passing of Fali S Nariman filled me with deep sorrow. Nariman witnessed our nation’s many trials and tribulations, both before and after independence, and fought for upholding Constitutional values till his last breath.

Never known for mincing words, Nariman has been a conscience keeper for judicial institutions. Through his arguments in courtrooms, widely read newspaper columns, public lectures, parliamentary interventions, and televised interviews he has educated generations of legal professionals and the general public alike.

A series of spirited interviews at such an advanced age in the very recent past stand testimony to his commitment to Constitutional principles. The huge volume of his work will keep on guiding the generations to come and Fali S Nariman will be remembered as an ethical giant.

Paying tribute to the eminent jurist, Justice Ramana, I offer my sincere condolences to Brother Rohinton (son of Fali Nariman and former SC Judge) and family and countless admirers and fans of Shri Fali S Nariman, Justice Ramana said.

Fali S Nariman passed away in the early hours of today at the age of 95 after suffering from multiple ailments including cardiac issues.
