Telangana DCA seizes ayurvedic medicine ‘Yajant Pain Oil’ for misleading Advertisement in Nizamabad

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana seized ‘Yajant Pain Oil’, an Ayurvedic medicine, in Nizamabad for making a misleading advertisement claiming it treats ‘Rheumatism’.

Officials from the DCA, Telangana, detected that the Ayurvedic medicine ‘Yajant Pain Oil’ was circulating in the market with a misleading claim on its label that it treats ‘Rheumatism’. This is a contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, prohibits the advertisement of certain drugs for the treatment of specific diseases and disorders. No person shall take part in the publication of advertisements regarding the diseases and disorders indicated under this Act.

During special raids conducted on Friday, officials from the DCA detected ‘Yajant Pain Oil’, manufactured by NB Healthcare, Mohali, Punjab. The label of the product bears a misleading claim that it is indicated for the treatment of ‘Rheumatoid Arthritis’.

The medicine was detected by DCA officials at a medical shop in Nizamabad, and stocks were seized during the raid. The advertisement of a medicine for the treatment of ‘Rheumatism’ is prohibited under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

V Srikanth, Drugs Inspector, Nizamabad Urban, and M Shyam Sunder, Drugs Inspector, Nirmal, were among the officers who carried out the raid.

Further investigation will be conducted, and action will be taken as per the law against all offenders, a DCA statement said on Saturday.
