French Foreign Minister to visit Lebanon on Thursday

Paris: French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne will visit Lebanon on Thursday amid the escalation in the Middle East, the Parisien newspaper reported, citing a source.

According to the report, Sejourne will arrive in Beirut as part of diplomatic efforts to deescalate the region.

He will hold talks with acting Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib.

Earlier, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States called on Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas to resume ceasefire discussions on August 14-15. The leaders of the three countries said they were ready to present a final proposal to reach a deal.
