AP: ICG rescues 10 Tamil Nadu fishermen

Kakinada: Ten fishermen from Tamil Nadu whose mechanised fishing boat was caught in the cyclonic weather were rescued by Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Paharedar’ and sent to Kakinada coast safe through the tug arranged by the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board officials.

The Coast Guard ship traced them at 100 NM, and they reached the Kakinada Customs Jetty through the tug at around 11.40 hours last night.

The Tamil Nadu fishermen left Chennai on August 23 but because of a technical snag caught in mid sea in a cyclone.

The boat owner sent an SOS message to the coastal security police headquarters in Visakhapatnam to the toll-free number 1093, who in turn informed the coast guard.

Under the instructions from the coastal security police officials, IG Gopinath Jetty, SP Ravi Varma, the north DSP Kalidas have supervised the rescue operation from Kakinada coastal security police station, according to marine police.
