New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President J P Nadda on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, saying the Congress has become a “copy & paste” party under the pressure of its “famous prince”, a veiled reference to Rahul Gandhi.

Nadda’s remarks, in a letter, follow Kharge’s note to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday over allegedly objectionable remarks by leaders of the the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) against Gandhi and his engangement during his US visit.

“You have written a letter to PM Modi in an attempt to polish your failed product (Rahul Gandhi), which has been repeatedly rejected by the public, and bring it to the market due to political compulsion,” reads Nadda’s letter.

“After reading that letter, I felt that the things said by you are far from reality. It seems that in the letter you have either forgotten the misdeeds of your leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, or have deliberately ignored them, so I felt that it was important to bring those things to your attention in detail,” Nadda said.

He wrote that it is sad that the oldest political party of the country has now become a “copy & paste” party under the pressure of its “famous prince.”

On Tuesday, in his letter to PM Modi, Kharge said phrases such as “number one terrorist” used by Union minister Ravneet Bittu and a former BJP MLA’s death threat to Rahul Gandhi, were “deeply disturbing”.

These matters, Kharge said, needed to be discussed as they were of utmost importance to Indian democracy and the values of the Constitution.

Kharge wrote the letter to PM in an apparent reference to the remarks by MoS Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu and UP minister Raghuraj Singh against Rahul Gandhi.
