PM Modi congratulates Sri Lankan president-elect Anura Dissanayake

New York/New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Sri Lanka’s president-elect Anura Kumara Dissanayake and said he looks forward to working closely with him to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation.

In a post on X, the PM said that Sri Lanka holds a special place in India’s Neighbourhood First Policy and vision Sagar.

“Congratulations @anuradisanayake, on your victory in the Sri Lankan Presidential elections. Sri Lanka holds a special place in India’s Neighbourhood First Policy and Vision SAGAR. I look forward to working closely with you to further strengthen our multifaceted cooperation for the benefit of our people and the entire region.”

Dissanayake thanked him for the greetings and said he shares PM Modi’s commitment to strengthening the ties between the two nations.

“Thank you, Prime Minister Modi, for your kind words and support. I share your commitment to strengthening the ties between our nations. Together, we can work towards enhancing cooperation for the benefit of our peoples and the entire region.”

Dissanayake, leader of the National People’s Power (NPP) party, was on Sunday elected as the 9th Executive President of Sri Lanka.
