Pawar thanks PM for sending Rs 1492 cr to flood-hit Maharashtra

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for disbursing the highest amount of Rs 1492 crore to the flood-hit state.

Pawar noted that an advance fund of Rs 5,858.60 crore has been disbursed from the Central Disaster Relief Fund to 14 states affected by heavy rains and floods, and Maharashtra received the highest amount of Rs 1,492 crore.

Pawar said in a press statement that Rs 14,958 crore has been provided to the concerned 21 states from the Central Disaster Relief Fund with the recently disbursed funds.

He said it showed that the central government stood firmly behind the state governments, especially the people of Maharashtra, in the matter of disaster relief.

While Maharashtra has been disbursed Rs 1492 crore, Rs 1036 crore has gone to Andhra Pradesh, Rs 716 crore to Assam, Rs 655.60 crore to Bihar, Rs 600 crore to Gujarat, Rs 416.80 crore to Telangana, and Rs 468 crore to West Bengal from the Central Disaster Relief Fund, he added.
