IDF says attacked Hezbollah’s arms depot on outskirts of Beirut

Beirut: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Wednesday that it had launch a strike on an arms depot of Lebanese movement Hezbollah on the outskirts of of Beirut.

“A short while ago, with the direction of precise IDF intelligence, the IAF [Israeli air force] conducted a strike on strategic weapons belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization. These weapons were stockpiled by Hezbollah in an underground storage facility in the area of Dahieh, a key Hezbollah terrorist stronghold in Beirut,” the IDF said on Telegram.

Media have previously reported that the IDF had urged citizens of Beirut’s southern suburb to evacuate immediately.

Since October 1, Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon, while continuing aerial bombardment. Despite losses, Hezbollah has been fighting Israeli troops on the ground and launching rockets across the border. Israel says its main objective is to create conditions for the return of 60,000 residents who fled the shelling in the north.
