The Ajmer police have launched an operation to identify and arrest illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslim immigrants, which is being carried out under a special task force team. Under the operation, it has been found out that the Ajmer Dargah region has been a safe haven for these illegal immigrants for years, and it was also known that illegals who were earlier caught and deported back to Bangladesh in as early as 2012 had come back to India and continued to enjoy a relaxed life in the Dargah area until they were arrested again under this recent operation.

Carrying out the operation, the Ajmer police detained 6 more illegal Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants, including 2 women, on Saturday, February 15, from the Dargah area. During interrogation, the detained told the police that they entered India illegally through the Benapole Border, which cost them 1500 Rs per person. While for the initial phase, these illegals lived across different cities in India, hiding their identity; they have been living in the Ajmer Dargah area for the last 5 years, claiming to be natives of West Bengal.

Till now, 16 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been detained by the Ajmer police during the newly launched operation. As per Additional SP Himanshu Jangid, the 6 detained illegals have been identified as citizens of Jessore, Bangladesh, and are Muhammad Rana, his wife, Sapna, Salma, Yasin Khan, Shakur Ali, and Imaan Sheikh. Along with them, 2 children have also been detained.

As per the police, these illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants have been spending an easy life in the Dargah area of Ajmer for years altogether now, to which they manage to return even after being deported, which becomes even simpler with the fake Aadhar cards they hold, masquerading as Indians from West Bengal.
