Florida: The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the temporary closure of airports in the state of Florida due to the threat of falling debris, following the unsuccessful launch of the Starship spacecraft, US media reported.

The closure of Miami International Airport was announced at 23:42 GMT on Thursday, the CBS News Miami broadcaster reported, adding that the airport will be closed until 01:00 GMT. The reason given in the notice was an incident with a space launch, the report read.

A similar notice was reportedly issued for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, as well airports in the cities of Orlando and Palm Beach.

Earlier on Thursday, SpaceX said that a “rapid unscheduled disassembly” occurred during the launch of the Starship spacecraft into orbit.
