New Delhi: Amid the worsening flood situation in Northern India, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to urgently extend central assistance to affected states.

In a video message, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the severe devastation caused by floods in Punjab, as well as the worsening situation in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

“Modi Ji, the floods in Punjab have caused massive devastation. The situation is also extremely concerning in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand,” Gandhi said.

Emphasising the urgent need for the central government’s attention and intervention during this crisis, Gandhi said, “In such difficult times, your attention and the active support of the Central Government are absolutely essential. Thousands of families are struggling to save their homes, lives, and loved ones.”

He also urged the Prime Minister to immediately announce a special relief package, particularly focusing on farmers who have suffered significant losses. Gandhi also called for the speeding up of relief and rescue operations to ensure timely assistance reaches those in need.
