Registered shops exempted from lockdown restrictions: MHA

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a fresh order that states that all registered shops under the Shops and Establishment Act of respective States and Union Territories.

The order further confirms that the shops also refer to shops in residential complexes, neighbourhood and standalone shops.

It further states that market complexes, except those within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities are allowed to be open. It is mandatory to have 50 per cent strength of workers. It is mandatory to wear a masks and to observing social distancing.

The MHA relaxations are not applicable in hotspots and containment zones, shops in single & multi brand malls prohibited.

  • In rural areas, all shops, except those in shopping malls are allowed to open.
  • In urban areas, all standalone shops, neighborhood shops & shops in residential complexes are allowed to open.  Shops in markets/market complexes and shopping malls are not allowed to open.

It is clarified that sale by e-commerce companies will continue to be permitted for essential goods only.

It is further clarified that sale of liquor and other items continues to be prohibited as specified in the National Directives for COVID-19 management.
