Srinagar: Apni Party (AP) delegation led by the Party president Altaf Bukhari on Sunday submitted a memorandum to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan and sought the restoration of statehood for J&K.

He said the Lieutenant Governor has promised to take up the matter of restoration of statehood with the Prime Minister and Union Homer Minister.

“We are happy that the Lieutenant Governor has assured to take up the matter with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir,” Bukhari told media persons after submitting the memorandum at Raj Bhawan.

Bukhari said that people should also come forward to support the Apni Party for the identity of statehood which they lost following the abrogation of Article 370 and making J&K a Union Territory.

Besides the restoration of Statehood, AP also demanded transparent and fast track recruitment and release of youth who have been taken into preventive custody during all these years.

Bukhari said the Apni Party had also taken up the matter of the aspirants who had applied for various jobs and those exams were cancelled, “the Lieutenant Governor assured that the exams would be held within the two months time with full transparency”.

He said the Apni Party has also demanded in the memorandum the release of all the youth who have been taken into preventive custody during all these years so far.

He said the Lieutenant Governor was very positive in all aspects and assured that the people’s aspirations would be looked into within the time frame and resolved.

He said the party has also raised the issue of “Mujawars” of shrines who have been disallowed to sit in the religious places, as those were not being paid by the government or Auguaf, LG assured that he will look into the matter.

Regarding the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) invitation of all parties for meeting over Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls, Bukhari said this is a normal process and our party will participate in it.

He said: “I have time and again said that Delhi feels that Election is in the favour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir…this is our right. ..we are a democratic country and for the past four years, the democratic process has not been restored on the grass root-level.”

He said restoration of statehood is a very serious matter, besides jobs for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
