Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar: ‘‘Ashadi Ekadashi’ is being celebrated here at the temple of Lord Vitthal-Rukhmini, known as ‘Mini Pandharpur, at Waluj, Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar since the wee hours of Thursday.

On this occasion, ‘Mahapuja’ was performed in the wee hours on Thursday.

Thousands of devotees have thronged the city as well as the district since early this morning to take the blessings of Lord Vitthala.

Long serpentine queues were seen in front of the temple at Waluj.

Other temples in and around the city were also decorated with lights. Bhajan and Kirtan along with other religious programmes, have also been organised.

People observed a whole-day fast on this day. Dindis (processions of warkari) have been organised at various parts of the city, including Cidco, Hudco, Mukundwadi, and Chiklathana localities.

As there was no significant rainfall here this year, most of the farmers (devotees) went for darshan and prayed to the Lord Vitthala at Pandarpur for good rain.
