Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address an election rally in favour of BJP’s West Bengal unit president Sukanta Majumdar in Balurghat of North Bengal’s district of South Dinajpur later on Wednesday, party sources here said.

Shah is expected to hold his first election rally at Buniadpur in Bengal, since the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the seven-phase poll for all 42 seats across this bordering state.

Majumdar (MP) is the winner in the 2019 Parliament poll.

Before him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already held two election rallies in North Bengal’s Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri districts recently.

Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri, the three contiguous districts, go to poll on April 19, the first phase poll.
