Bengaluru: A Special Court in Bengaluru has directed the police to file an FIR against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and others over allegations of extortion.

The accusations stem from a complaint lodged by Adarsh Iyer, Co-President of the Janadhikar Sangharsa Parishad (JSP), involving electoral bonds.

The case also implicates several high-profile figures, including BJP National President JP Nadda, former Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, and Vijayendra Yediyurappa.

The complaint, filed in April 2024, claims that large sums of money were collected through electoral bonds between 2019 and 2022, including Rs 230 crore from a businessman’s company and Rs 49 crore from a pharma company.

The court has instructed the police to begin investigations immediately.
