BJP looting Delhi citizens’ money to benefit their friends: Kejriwal

Key Takeaways

  • The AAP government has achieved several milestones in Delhi, including providing 24-hour electricity and improving government schools.
  • The AAP plans to implement the Women’s Dignity Scheme, the Sanjeevani Scheme, and provide free bus rides for women in Delhi.
  • The AAP aims to address unemployment and eradicate it from Delhi entirely.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday accused the BJP of looting the money of Delhi residents and giving it to their friends stating that residents’ money should only be spent on their welfare.

Addressing public gatherings in Jangpura, Kasturba Nagar and R K Puram constituencies, Kejriwal said, “The people of Delhi are saying that no government has done the work that the AAP government has done in the city, and that is why they will vote for the party again this time.”

“The money of Delhi’s citizens should be spent for their benefit, but the BJP is looting this money through corruption and distributing it among people,” he said urging voters to take what is offered but not to let their votes be sold at any cost.

“The AAP government has made significant progress in Delhi, providing 24-hour electricity. Before their tenure, Delhi faced frequent power cuts. Now, homes no longer need inverters and generators. 24 hours of electricity is now a reality in Delhi.

“While the BJP rules 20 states, none of them have 24-hour electricity. Delhi offers the cheapest electricity in the country,” he noted.

“AAP government has improved all government schools in Delhi. Now, children study in excellent government schools, and parents are happy. Education in these schools is completely free,” Kejriwal said.

He also highlighted the establishment of Mohalla Clinics across Delhi, where all treatments are free, claiming that the BJP has announced plans to shut down these clinics if they come to power, but Delhi’s residents won’t let that happen and appealed the voters to choose the AAP’s broom symbol.

He promised that if re-elected, the government would first implement the Women’s Dignity Scheme, providing Rs 2,100 to women. Registration will be reopened for those not yet registered so all women can benefit. The Sanjeevani Scheme will be launched, where the Delhi government will bear all medical expenses for senior citizens, whether treated in government or private hospitals. Women’s bus rides will remain free, and metro passes with a 50 percent fare discount will also be introduced.

“Many educated young individuals are unemployed. The government aims to address unemployment and eradicate it from Delhi entirely,” he said.

The AAP leader accused the BJP of wanting to end welfare schemes in Delhi because the AAP is a party of the poor and middle classes, while the BJP represents billionaires.

Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for favouring a particular industrialist, Kejriwal claimed that Rs 46,000 crore of this industrialist’s debt was waived off by the government.

“BJP is looting public money to benefit billionaires. If the BJP comes to power in Delhi, they will loot the city’s money and hand it over to their billionaire friends, like Adani,” he said, reiterating that Delhi’s money should only be spent on its residents.
