BJP walks out of Bihar assembly in protest against enhanced energy tariff

Patna: The opposition protesting against the increased rates of energy bill and demanding a reply from the government on it walked out of Bihar assembly during its pre- lunch sitting on Monday.

As the house assembled for the day the BJP members were on their toes on the issue of enhanced energy tariff. With the permission of the speaker the leader of the opposition in the state assembly Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the entire state was affected with the fixation of new energy rates and the people were in a mood of agitation.

He said the Chief Minister had assured that the poor would not be affected with the enhancement. Sinha said they have already moved an adjournment on the issue and demanded a reply from the government on it.

Meanwhile, Congress legislature party leader Ajit Sharma raised the issue of cancellation of Lok Sabha membership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi saying that it was a complete murder of democracy which he along with other members of his party were protesting.

The opposition created noise over the issue of enhanced energy tariff whereas Congress members of the ruling grand alliance were vociferously protested over the action against Rahul Gandhi.

Both opposition and ruling party members of Congress trooped to the well and shouted slogans.

In the mean time the speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary took up the question hour proceedings which continued amid noise created by both opposition and the ruling party. The Congress members were also seen wearing black kurta and black bands on their forehead in protest against the action upon Rahul Gandhi.

After shouting slogans for a few minutes the BJP members, the main opposition walked out of the house and the ruling party members resumed their seats.
