Lucknow: Amid an ongoing row over the grave of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb in Maharashtra, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Tuesday said that it is not right to damage the grave or mausoleum and demanded strict action against unruly elements in Nagpur.

Taking to ‘X’, Mayawati wrote, “It is not right to damage or break anyone’s grave or mausoleum in Maharashtra because this is spoiling the mutual brotherhood, peace and harmony there.”

She said, “The government should take strict action against such unruly elements, especially in Nagpur; otherwise the situation can worsen, which is not right.”

It may be noted that the police burst tear gas shells after several vehicles were allegedly set ablaze by clashing groups in central Nagpur on Monday night following a dispute. The violence broke out in the Mahal area of Orange City.

Some police officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Nagpur Archit Chandak, sustained injuries as the clashing groups pelted stones.
