Eight militants including Myanmar outfit nabbed in Manipur

Imphal: Eight militants were apprehended by police and security personnel in different operations during the last 24 hours.

One of them was a cadre of Chin Kuki National Defence Force (CKNDF), based in Moreh (India) and Myanmar identified as Thongkhohou Touthang of Tonglal Veng, Churachandpur District from Tuibong under Churachandpur-PS, Churachandpur District.

He is involved in the recruitment of youth for armed insurgency for CKNDF group and cross-border arms and cadre movement. He is also involved in demanding extortion from the public in the name of CKNDF.

Manipur Police arrested two militants from Yourbung Ward No. 2 School Leirak under Lamlai-PS, Imphal East District and Sawombung Kabui Khunjao under Lamlai-PS, Imphal East District.

In another incident security forces arrested a militant from Wangkhei Ayangpalli area under Porompat-PS, Imphal East District .

Manipur Police arrested a militant from Sagolsem Lampak, Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai under Singjamei-PS, Imphal West District.

Manipur Police also arrested a militant from Sangaiyumpham Cherapur Mayai Leikai under Thoubal-PS, Thoubal District .

In yet another incident Manipur Police arrested a militant from Tronglaobi Makha Leikai under Moirang-PS, Bishnupur District. Security forces arrested a militant from Mayang Langjing area under Lamsang-PS, Imphal West District.

Meanwhile in two different operations at Kakching and Imphal East, arms and ammunition were recovered, police said.
