Eight militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal: Eight militants were nabbed by Manipur Police and security personnel in different operations during the last 24 hours, police said on Saturday.

Security forces arrested one active cadre of RPF/PLA from Uchol Makha Leikai under Andro-PS, Imphal East District. He was involved in extortion activities from the general public, police said.

In another operation, security forces arrested one active cadre of PREPAK, Om Khurai Chingangbam Leikai near Community Hall under Porompat-PS, Imphal East District. He was involved in extortion activities from the general public.

In a separate incident, Manipur Police arrested three active Cadres of KCP (Apunba) from their residences in Imphal West District. One INSAS Rifle along with one Magazine loaded with three rounds, 9 mm Pistol , Air Gun, Double Barrel Gun and other items were recovered. Continuing the operation, Manipur Police arrested the Commander of the three persons from his residence at Khurai, Imphal East.

A joint team of Manipur Police and AR arrested one active cadre of KCP-PWG organisation from Mayang Langjing Bazar, Imphal West. He was involved in extortion activities by serving monetary demands/threats and collecting money from various stone crushers, shops and the general public located in and around the Imphal area.

Security forces arrested an active cadre of PREPAK (Pro) from Moirang Lamkhai, Churachandpur Parking under Moirang-PS, Bishnupur District.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces and two 7.62 mm SLRs with magazines, one (.22mm) pistol with a magazine (country made), one Improvised Mortar (Pompi), two country made Pull Mechanism Rifle, six Mortar Bomb, eight 7.62 mm round and other items were recovered from Zero point N. Boljang village track (05 km North of COB Kotlen) under New Keithelmanbi-PS, Kangpokpi District.
