Fijian PM Rabuka confers nation’s highest honour on PM Modi

New Delhi/Port Moresby: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Monday conferred Fiji’s highest honor – the Companion of the Order of Fiji (CF), by Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

The two Prime Ministers met for bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Third FIPIC Summit in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Accepting the award, Prime Minister Modi expressed his thanks and said it is an honour for the people of India and a recognition of the strong ties between the two countries.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a tweet said that during their talks the two leaders reviewed the close bilateral ties.

“Furthering a relationship anchored in deep historical bonds.

PM @narendramodi met PM @slrabuka of Fiji on the sidelines of the FIPIC III Summit.

“Leaders reviewed the close and multifaceted bilateral partnership. Expressed satisfaction at the progress in key sectors. Also exchanged views on regional and global issues of common interest.”

“On behalf of @PresidentFiji H.E Ratu Wiliame M. Katonivere, PM @slrabuka bestowed PM @narendramodi with Fiji’s highest honor – the Companion of the Order of Fiji (CF).

“PM dedicated the honor to the people of India and to the generations of Fiji-Indian community, who have played a key role in the special and enduring bond between the two countries.”
