Patna: Union Minister of Rural Development Giriraj Singh on Saturday criticised AIUDF president Badruddin Azmal for his “offensive” remark against Hindus on their pattern of marriage and population growth.

Singh told mediapersons in Begusarai that leaders like Badruddin would not have dared to abuse Hindus on the issue of population and marriage pattern, had all Muslims gone to Pakistan after the partition of India in 1947. When the partition of India was done based on religion, then why all Muslims did not go to Pakistan then, he questioned.

Union Minister said that he had been advocating for uniform law to check population control in India. A law should be framed for its uniformly applicable to all irrespective of the religion of the citizens to check population growth, he added.

“China enforced two-child norms and succeeded in population control”, Singh said adding that no Muslim in China questioned the two-child norms and followed it without any iota of anger and protest. With its two child norms,

China succeeded in arresting the growth of the population of 60 Crores, he pointed out.

Union Minister said that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of China was less than that of India before the year 1989 but due to effective population control, China had now become a vast economic power in the world, he noted.

National Spokesman of BJP Syed Shahnawaz Hussain also came down heavily on Badruddin for his remarks against Hindus. It was in bad taste and not acceptable at all, he maintained.

As it is, AIUDF president Badruddin Azmal had said on Friday that Hindus should adopt the Muslim formula and get their children married at a young age.

“Normally, Muslim men marry at the age of 20-22 and Muslim women also marry at 18 after the permissible age of 18 years fixed by the government”, Ajmal said adding that on the other hand, Hindus keep one, two, or three illegal wives before marriage and they don’t give birth to babies, enjoy themselves and save money.

To o a query on the increasing Muslim population, he said “After the age of 40, Hindus get married under the pressure of parents. So how can one expect that they will bear children after 40? If you sow in fertile land, then only you can bear good crops. There will then be growth”. So Hindus should adopt the Muslim pattern of marriage and get their children married at a young age, he advised.
