Athens: A Paris Olympic-bound athlete of Greece has tested positive for doping, the country’s national broadcaster ERT reported on Tuesday.
According to Greece’s National Anti-Doping Organization EOKAN sources, the positive test of the female track and field athlete was confirmed after tests conducted before the team departed for the French capital.
The name of the athlete – who can ask for a second sample test, according to the rules – has not been disclosed.
The 101 Greek athletes who won tickets to the Paris Olympics will compete in the Games, which start on July 26. The track and field team includes 14 athletes, of whom 10 are women.
