On Wednesday, at 8 AM in the morning, a Hanuman temple situated in Rajasthan’s Abu Road was demolished, after being labeled as an encroachment, after which the situation in the area got tense. Within half an hour, people started protesting and blocked the roads. They then pelted stones on the police personnel, due to which 6 policemen including ASP Devaram Chaudhary, and CO Mount Yogesh Sharma. The crowd was then dispersed by the police through a lathi-charge.

More than 20 people have been taken in custody. SDM Neelam Lakhara has said that a petition was filed against the illegal encroachment in the High Court back in 2016, and the court had ordered the temple to be razed to the ground. On the other hand, BJP MLA Samaram Garasia has stated that the police had entered the homes of the people and physically assaulted women and children, and this is something which could happen only under the anti-Hindu Congress government.

Collector Dr Bhanwarlal expressed that some people had pelted stones at the police personnel due to which some of the latter got injured, and therefore, a little bit of force was used on the protestors by them.
