Heavy security checks in Mumbai ahead of LS polls

Mumbai: Security has been increased in the Mumbai suburban district in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections, and large-scale spot checks are being carried out by stationary and mobile teams.

According to a press release issued on Thursday night, the administration has appealed all to cooperate in the inspection process.

During the election period, the administration has appealed that citizens, traders, and professionals should keep the relevant documents with them while carrying any material or money.

In the wake of the Lok Sabha elections, strict arrangements have been made to probe and seize as needed by the poll investigators.

Officials of various departments, including the Income Tax, State Excise Duty, Central Goods and Services Tax, State Goods and Services Tax, Professional Tax, Narcotics Control Force along with police administration are on duty to prevent misuse of money, free supply of liquor, distribution of gift items, or any bait during Lok Sabha elections under any circumstances.

The Border Security Force, Armed Forces, Central Police Force, Industrial Security Force, Indian Coast Guard, Railway Protection Force, Department of Posts, Forest Department, Civil Aviation Department, Airport Authority, State Civil Aviation Department, State Transport Department,Mobile Team (FST) and Static Surveillance Team (SST) are also working with them.

The election administration has informed that the vehicles were being thoroughly inspected during the election period, and reports were being submitted to the election department every day.
