Srinagar: As multiple attacks on Indian territory by Pakistan Armed Forces during the last night were “effectively repulsed and a befitting reply was given,” a woman was killed and three others injured in cross-border shelling in the Uri sector of Baramulla district.

On the intervening night of Thursday and Friday Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border.

Indian Army said Pak troops also resorted to numerous cease fire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and befitting reply was given to the CFVs,” Army ADGPI said in post on X

“Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignity and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force,” Army said.

The intense cross border shelling erupted last evening across the LoC moments after Pakistan night escalated the skirmish by attacking Jammu with drones and missiles.

In Uri, a lady identified as Nargis Bashir of Rajarwar Uri, died while she was fleeing from her home after a Pakistani shell exploded. Three others were also injured in the shelling.

The shelling, which also triggered migration to safer areas, was reported across Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts. Kupwara also witnessed intense artillery fire and the shells fell deep inside the villages close to the town.

The situation along the LoC continues to remain tense. The J & K government has already shut all educational institutes in view of the prevailing situation.

Exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani armies has been ongoing since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. While the past fortnight had seen no casualties, hostilities escalated after India carried out multiple strikes across the border.
