IPL 2023: CSK release Bravo, SRH let go of Williamson

Mumbai: Four-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai SuperKings (CSK) have released West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo while Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) decided to let go of their skipper Kane Williamson ahead of the mini-auction for IPL 2023 season.

CSK also went on to release Adam Milne, Chris Jordan, N Jagadeesan, C Hari Nishaanth, K Bhagat Varma, KM Asif while Robin Uthappa retired from cricket.

Nicholas Pooran is the other big name in the list of Sunrisers’ list of released players.

However, CSK has retained Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja in their squad for the upcoming season with the likes of Moeen Ali and Devon Conway also retained.

On the other hand, SRH have retained Rahul Tripathi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan in the setup.

SuperKings has brought back Bravo during the mega-auction in February for Rs 4.4 crore. The West Indies T20 Cricket legend has played 10 matches for CSK last season, claiming 16 wickets.

Bravo has played in 161 IPL matches and picked up 183 wickets. Moreover, he has scored 1560 runs with the highest score of 70 not out.

Williamson spent eight years with SRH, scoring 2101 runs at an average of 36.22 and a strike rate of 126.03. He played 76 matches for Sunrisers and captained them 46 times.

SuperKings will have a purse of 20.45 Crores and Sunrisers have Rs 42.25 crore purse remaining for the upcoming auction, scheduled to take place in Kochi on November 23.
