Beirut: The Israeli army’s losses since the start of the ground operation in southern Lebanon have amounted to 55 killed and more than 500 wounded soldiers and officers, Lebanese Shia movement Hezbollah said in a statement.

“Enemy casualties, according to confirmations from resistance fighters, have reached 55 killed and more than 500 wounded soldiers and officers. In addition, 20 Merkava tanks and four military bulldozers have been destroyed,” the statement said.

It said the number does not include Israeli servicemen killed and wounded as a result of shelling of strongholds and barracks located along the entire border with Lebanon and deep inside Israeli territory.
