Japanese Anime film ‘Suzume’ stays on top of China’s box office chart

Beijing: Statistics from China Movie Data Information Network showed that the Japanese animated fantasy adventure film ‘Suzume’ stayed on top of the Chinese mainland box office chart on Wednesday.

The film generated a total daily box office of 49.92 million yuan (about 7.3 million U.S. dollars) on Wednesday after nearly two weeks of screening.

The Chinese adaptation of the classic Japanese family drama “Hachiko” came in second, grossing over 35.45 million yuan on its sixth day of screening.

It was followed by the animation “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which hit cinema screens on Wednesday and raked in about 31.96 million yuan for the day.
