J&K teen delivers baby after raped by cousin

Jammu: A 13-year-old girl delivered a baby after she was allegedly raped by her teenager cousin in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police here on Thursday said that an information was received that a 13-year-old girl delivered a female baby after which a team was rushed to the hospital to ascertain the facts.

“The victim in her statement has alleged that she was repeatedly raped by her 16-year-old cousin,” the police said.

“We have registered a case under sections 376 of IPC and Posco Act. The alleged accused has also been taken into juvenile custody,” the police added.

They said that both mother and child are healthy but are under observation.
