Kejriwal spends money on advertisements but not on people’s better facilities: Gaurav Bhatia

New Delhi: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday slammed the Kejriwal Government in Delhi for not providing funds for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and alleged that he has money to spend on advertisements but not for better facilities for people.

“The most dishonest leader, Arvind Kejriwal, has spent Rs 1106 crore for advertisements in the last 3 years, but he has repeatedly told the SC they don’t have money for the project,” BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said here in a press conference.

The BJP’s remarks came after the AAP-led government in Delhi apprised the Supreme Court that it was unable to contribute funds for the construction of the RRTS.

The Delhi government’s contribution towards the RRTS Project was Rs 1138 crore.

The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi to apprise it of the money spent on advertisements in the last three financial years.

A bench presided over by Justice S K Kaul issued the direction as the Delhi government pleaded that it was unable to contribute to the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project due to a paucity of funds.

“As per the Supreme Court’s comment, Kejriwal’s government has money for advertisements. However, they don’t have money for the RRTS Project, which is in the interest of the people. The SC has asked them to submit an affidavit detailing the amount spent on the advertisements in the last 3 years,” Bhatia said.

The BJP spokesperson was also accused of being corrupt, citing an example of an alleged excise policy scam in the national capital under his rule.
